These beverages might be the ultimate comfort drink for you, but drinking them right after waking up might be silently causing harm to your body. Tea and coffee are acidic in nature and having them on an empty stomach can disrupt the acid-basic balance which can lead to acidity or indigestion. Tea also contains a compound called theophylline which has a dehydrating effect and might cause constipation. After consuming tea or coffee, first thing in the morning, the bacteria in the mouth will break down sugar which will increase the acid levels in the mouth and can cause erosion of tooth enamel. Some people might also feel bloated in the morning after drinking tea or coffee made with milk.

The best time to drink tea is usually 1-2 hours after having a meal. You can drink it in the morning as well, but make sure you aren’t empty stomach and tea or coffee isn’t the first thing that you consume. Most people drink tea during the evening, along with some snacks which is a good enough option.

Drinking coffee before workouts are usually recommended as it fills you up with energy and helps in burning extra calories. Avoid having coffee right before going to bed as it can interfere with the sleep cycle and might even interrupt sleep several times during the night.

After waking up you can drink a warm cup of lemon juice with a pinch of salt and black pepper. This is a superb option for weight loss and will also boost your immunity. Fresh giloy juice or amla juice too are some effective options if immunity boosting is your goal.

You can soak 1 tsp methi seeds or 1 tsp cumin seeds or 1 tsp fennel seeds in a glass of water overnight. In the morning, strain the water, warm it up a bit and drink. If you are too lazy in the morning and don’t want to do much, then just drink lukewarm water with ½ tsp flax seed powder. This acts as an amazing antioxidant and also improves your metabolism.
